Kanta Ono

Professor, The University of Osaka

He received his Ph.D. in Science from the Graduate School of Science at the University of Tokyo. After serving as a Research Associate at the Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo, and subsequently as an Associate Professor at the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK), he became a Professor in the Department of Physics at the Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University.

With a background in quantum beam measurements and magnetic materials research, his current work focuses on the automation and autonomization of materials experiments by integrating robotics, artificial intelligence, and mathematical sciences. In particular, he is developing robotic experimental systems that automate the entire workflow of powder X-ray diffraction, from sample pretreatment and preparation to measurement and analysis. His research also explores the estimation of material states and optimization of experimental conditions based on measurement data, with the ultimate goal of enabling autonomous materials research and development.
