After graduating from Kyoto University’s Faculty of Engineering, Department of Metallurgy, he completed his doctoral program at the Graduate School of Engineering, earning a Ph.D. in Engineering. He served as an assistant at the Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University, before joining Nagoya University’s Graduate School of Engineering as an associate professor and later a professor in 2004. In 2015, he assumed his current position. He also serves as the Director of the Center for Deep-Tech Serial Innovation at Nagoya University. Additionally, he holds several positions at university-spawned startups, including Director at U-MAP Inc., Director at I-Crystal Inc., and CEO at UJ-Crystal Inc. His areas of expertise are semiconductor materials science, crystal growth (such as SiC solution growth and AlN), and process informatics.
