This session will explore the potential of the mobility sector in the African market.Mr. Terakubo of Uncovered Fund and Mr. Maki of Toyota Tsusho will take the stage to introduce the latest trends in the African market and examples of investment in startups. Mr. Naonobu Fuwa of JICA will moderate the session. New growth strategies and innovation possibilities for Japanese companies will be discussed.

Since joining Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) in 2005, he engaged in the business of "Africa x Mobility" for almost 20 years. On top of the experiences of new business development and several MAs, he also has an experience of managing a mobility company in Mozambique as COO in 2021. Starting from April 2024, appointed as Deputy CEO at Mobility54, CVC of TTC, leading business development and synergy creation between the start-up partners and the TTC group on the ground.

Nao FUWA launched and leads activities related to the enhancement of African startup ecosystems at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). As a JICA Expert for Innovation, Competition and Incubation, he supports the Office for Nigerian Digital Innovation and the National Center of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (under the Nigerian government) to enhance regional startup ecosystems in Nigeria, and also organized the JICA NINJA Business Plan Competition in response to COVID 19 across 19 countries in Africa. He began his career in the capital markets division of an investment bank, then as a managing director of a tech start-up, before moving to Uganda as a husband to join JICA in Uganda and Ethiopia. He holds a M.A. in Financial Mathematics from Boston University.
