Ecosystem of Japan and Aichi from the perspective of overseas startups
In recent years, the Japanese market has been attracting increasing attention from overseas startups.
In this session, panelists from three companies supporting Aichi's overseas collaboration projects, and from the National University of Singapore which has a base in STATION Ai, will discuss the startup ecosystem of Japan, especially that of Aichi Prefecture, as seen from the perspective of overseas startups.

Joined Toyota Motor Corporation as a fresh graduate and worked in project management of new development vehicles. Mainly responsible for vehicles in the South East Asia region, and worked as a coordinator at the South East Asia RHQ (@ Thailand) from 2016-2017. After leaving Toyota Motor Corporation in 2021, entered the MBA (majoring in Entrepreneurship) at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Upon graduation in 2023, joined National University of Singapore / NUS Enterprise which is the innovation & Enterprise arm of NUS. Currently working as a Japan Centre Director for innovation among Japan x Southeast Asia, with a focus on BLOCK71 which is responsible for supporting start-up growth. Born in 1988, Bachelor in Economics from Kyoto University and Master of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore.

After graduating from Waseda University, I had worked in advertising agency and Film industry as a producer. As I joined to Creww Inc in 2016, I started to work in Startup industry to run accelerator / open innovation program or co-working space. From 2021 I joined forStartups Inc and started to work with governments in many regions to plan and run startup support strategy or programs in Aichi, Hamamatsu, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, and so on. I was a 1st general manager of STATION Ai.

Originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Gary Yoshiki moved to Japan at the age of 16 and graduated from both Bunka Fashion College and Waseda University. In the apparel industry, he led the adoption of 3D simulation technology developed by a Korean startup, enabling cross-border collaborations among designers in Japan, the US, Australia, and Italy. After gaining experience as an on-site engineer for manufacturing execution systems at a major IT company, he joined ABeam Consulting.Fluent in five languages, Gary manages startup growth and innovation-related programs. He supports international startups entering the Japanese market and facilitates collaborations with corporations, driving new business development and open innovation.
