Shohei Ito (b. 1987) graduated from the University of Tsukuba with a degree in Engineering Systems. After gaining hands-on experience in prototype robotics at a tech startup during his studies, he founded FullDepth Co., Ltd. (formerly Spatial Intelligence Laboratory) in June 2014, serving as CEO until transitioning to Director in August 2022 to lead core development. A recognized expert in underwater technology, he served on Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism council for maritime mobility in 2020 and was named to MIT Technology Review’s Innovators Under 35 Japan list in 2021.
