Microbubbles induced by irradiating a liquid with ultrasound grow and collapse, generating microjet-like structures that destroy bacterial cell walls, thus physically sterilizing the liquid without the need for chemicals. Metalworking fluids (coolants) used during cutting and grinding processes of metals and other materials play essential roles in lubrication, cooling, cleaning, rust prevention, and anti-welding, and are indispensable for improving processing accuracy and surface quality. However, these fluids suffer from problems such as the generation of foul odors and skin diseases among workers due to spoilage. This project aims to sell a device that suppresses the spoilage of coolants by applying an ultrasonic sterilization system, enabling the extension of the fluid’s lifespan without the need for chemicals, and to commercialize coolant maintenance services.
