This project aims to develop and commercialize “BloomX,” an innovative technology that regulates plant dormancy and promotes flowering and germination. BloomX is based on a low-molecular-weight compound discovered by our research team and has successfully induced dormancy release in Japanese pear and promoted flowering in vanilla, which has been difficult to achieve using conventional methods. Its effectiveness has also been demonstrated in a wide range of crops, including fruit trees, ornamental plants, vegetables, and cereals. This project will initially focus on vanilla, a high-value crop, to optimize treatment concentration, timing, and application methods, and to evaluate the reproducibility of its effects. In parallel, we will conduct customer interviews with growers and related companies, develop formulations, establish intellectual property strategies, and evaluate potential business models. Ultimately, we aim to expand this technology globally, enabling precise control of flowering and germination, stabilizing agricultural production, and creating new market opportunities.
