Across many large corporations, new ventures and open innovation (CVC) initiatives are now underway. Yet success stories, it is often said, remain few. But the time for commentary is over. The question is no longer “why doesn’t it work,” but rather: what kind of future can large corporations and startups co-create, beyond the boundaries of their organizations? Drawing on the insight of three leaders who stand at the front lines of co-creation across diverse industries—while also serving as board members responsible for management—this session unpacks the underlying context, the challenges to overcome, and the possibilities for both large corporations and startups, and sketches the blueprint for the next generation of industry. The session is moderated by Yukiko Kato, Director and Executive Officer, Head of the CVC Division at SBI Investment Co., Ltd., who oversees CVC operations for various large corporations while also supporting the growth of startups.
