Professor, Research Institute of Quantum and Chemical Innovation, Institutes of Innovation for Future Society, Nagoya University

Tsukasa Torimoto is a Professor at the Graduate School of Engineering and the Research Institute of Quantum and Chemical Innovation, Nagoya University, Japan. He received his Ph.D. in Engineering from Osaka University in 1994. His research focuses on the synthesis and functionalization of semiconductor quantum dots and metal nanoparticles. In particular, he has extensively studied low-toxicity multinary semiconductor quantum dots, with an emphasis on precise control of their composition, size, shape, and interfacial structures to tailor their optical and photochemical properties. His research also explores the applications of these nanomaterials in luminescent materials, photocatalysis, photovoltaics, bioimaging, and electrocatalysis. He has received several awards, including the Japanese Photochemistry Association Award and the Scientific Achievement Award of the Electrochemical Society of Japan. He was elected a Fellow of the Electrochemical Society of Japan in 2020.
