QUANTUM CREATION — The Next Industrial Revolution, Unlocked by Quantum

Quantum technology is set to reshape the future of manufacturing from several directions at once: a new kind of “computing power” delivered by quantum computing, and new “functionality” enabled by quantum materials and quantum devices. On the computing side, not only quantum computers but also AI and high-performance computing (HPC) are advancing rapidly, transforming the very way we approach the simulation of materials and drug discovery, and the large-scale optimization of manufacturing, logistics, and social infrastructure. On the other side, advances in quantum materials and quantum devices are expected to give rise to new sensing, communications, and computing technologies. In this session, while carefully discerning “what only quantum can do” from “what existing computing or AI is better suited for,” we consider—together with the realities of industrial implementation—how quantum technology should be incorporated into manufacturing, from Nagoya, the “manufacturing capital” that has supplied the world with automobiles, aerospace, materials, and energy.
